The Pukaha Mount Bruce exhibit galleries are a theatrical and interactive blend of cultural and ecological messages. The exhibits dramatically describe what has been lost, the vital role that the centre plays in the preservation of our native birdlife, and the intense and unrelenting human effort this requires.

Pukaha Mount Bruce is all that remains of an ancient forest that stretched 70 miles (113 kilometres) from the Wairarapa to Hawke’s Bay. The Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre protects what survives of this treasured forest. Since 1958, the Centre has pioneered captive breeding programmes, brightening the future for some of New Zealand’s most threatened species.
